Aging Skin Tips

As we age, our skin goes through a lot of changes. Fortunately, you can use a professional anti-aging skincare routine to slow down the natural aging process and keep your skin looking healthy and youthful.

COMMON AGING SKIN SYMPTOMS

The body's natural production of essential proteins and oils starts to slow around your mid-20's and decreases with time. This causes the following changes to the skin:

  • Wrinkles and fine lines

  • Loss of elasticity

  • Dryness and dehydration

Other factors that contribute to aging skin are:

  • Intrinsic factors (genetics, hormones)

  • Extrinsic factors (sun exposure, lifestyle, environmental pollutants)

  • Personal habits (smoking, diet, lack of exercise)

No matter what age you are, there is always time to start taking care of your skin. Here are some general guidelines for creating an effective anti-aging skincare routine:

Cleansing: Start by using a gentle cleanser that won't strip away your skin's natural oils. For aging skin specifically, use a non-drying and gentle cleanser like the Mixi Gel Cleanser, Glymed's Vitamin C or Mega Cream Cleanser to name a few great options.

Treat: Incorporate a serum that targets aging to improve the look and texture of your skin's appearance. Some of my favorites are (plated) Intense Serum, (plated) Daily Serum, (plated) Eye Serum, Mixi Mandelic Acid, Mixi Dew Drop Serum, Glymed's CBD Age Delay Dew, Brilliant Tone, or Peptide Serum. (All products listed can be shopped on www.skinimagestudio.com)

Balance: Moisturizing is essential in any skincare routine, but it becomes even more crucial as we age. Some of my favorite moisturizers for treating mature skin are: Mixi Peptide Rescue, Mixi Dew Drop Serum, Glymed's Age Delay Cream, and Barrier Repair Cream.

Protect: If you aren't protecting your skin from the sun, then all of the other products listed above are simply a waste of your time and resources. Sun exposure is the leading cause of aging skin, so incorporate the daily use of a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. My favorite sunscreen's are Face Shield Flex SPF 50 by Colorescience ( a great foundation replacement for you foundation loving ladies0, Mixi Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50, Glymed's Moisturizing Protection Cream SPF 30.

When shopping for anti-aging skincare products, look for these key ingredients:

  • Retinoids

  • Vitamin C

  • Exosomes

  • Peptides

Aging happens to everyone, but you can slow the visible effects with a proper anti-aging skincare routine and healthy habits. Here are some additional tips to keep your skin looking and feeling young:

  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water

  • Get enough sleep to allow your body to repair itself overnight

  • Eat a balanced diet rich in antioxidants and essential nutrients

  • Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption

  • Manage stress levels through relaxation techniques like yoga or meditation

Your aging skin can still look healthy, radiant and youthful with proper care. Start incorporating pharmaceutical-grade skincare products to help you achieve your desired results.
